It’s rare that someone can pinpoint exactly when their life changed but in Adam’s case he can track that not once, but on several occasions. Despite being known by an Italian-sounding name, (adopted for business by the way, full points if you can work out its origins), Adam was born and raised in Portsmouth. “Towards the end of our final year at school we were given work experience placements,” said Adam. “Mine was at Rafferty Newman.
I did little more than sweep floors and help out where I could, but I fell in love with the whole environment. The shop, the people who worked there, the customers and of course the scooters.” Despite having such a positive experience Adam followed the best advice any teenager could get in the mid-1980s and ‘got a trade’, in his case as an electrician. It wasn’t his first love but, as we shall see, it’s training that’s served him well.
