If even Sinn Fein can wholeheartedly welcome King Charles to the throne as Northern Ireland’s Head of State, it seems unlikely New Zealanders will surge to the “cancel” button of republicanism just yet.
Despite the seeming inevitability of that final snip of the British apron strings, it’s not at the top of the to-do list of anyone who could make it happen any time soon. New Zealanders will have plenty of time to get used to their new Head of State, and he may be more fun than many expect.
