ANA’S MARILYN MOMENT

FANS have been treated to the first glimpse of ANA DE ARMAS in Blonde, an upcoming biopic based on Joyce Carol Oates’ bestselling novel which reimagines the life of Norma Jeane Baker who changed her name to Marilyn Monroe in 1946.

But after Netflix dropped the trailer, many took to Twitter to criticise the casting choice. While some blasted the 34-year-old actress’ Cuban accent, others complained that she looks nothing like Marilyn.

The Golden Globe nominee, who learnt English only in 2015, spent a “whole year” attempting to perfect the legendary blonde bombshell’s Hollywood accent with dialect coach Jessica Drake.

The film’s director Andrew Dominik responded swiftly and assured the critics, “The one thing nobody’s going to complain about is Ana’s performance.”
