SHE was one of those lucky people who seemed to have it all. She attended an elite private school, lived in a mansion, and spent her holidays jetting around the world, staying in five-star resorts – all thanks to her dad’s immense fortune.

But for Clare Brown things have gone downhill fast in the past few months. These days the 26-year-old Australian lives in a squalid two-bedroom home in a seedy part of Sydney, and she and her wife, Lauren Barr (37), and their one-year-old daughter, Riley, rely on welfare handouts to put food on the table.
