My job…

I’m executive director and secretary of the British Equestrian Trade Association (BETA), but I tend to drop the latter title as it confuses people. My role also encompasses BETA’s commercial subsidiary, Equestrian Management Consultants (EMC). As well as managing the day-to-day running of the two businesses, I carry out a wide range of other duties. For BETA I play an active role in the running of several key committees, including feed, trade fair and retail. I also sit on the body protector and hat committees at a national and European level. Because I understand the risks involved in being around horses, I’m determined to get the safety message out to riders.
