LIFE’S WORK
Paul Jeggels' relationship with the ocean began at the age of 14, when his older brother Owen let him tag along to the beach with him. Their neighbourhood, Pellsrus, lies only a few kilometres south of the fabled lineup at Supertubes; but back then, there wasn’t a single local surfer from the area. Owen had taught himself to surf on an old polystyrene board with a red plastic fin, and after giving it a try, Paul was instantly hooked.
Little did Paul know that those first few foamies would lead to an accomplished career as a shaper, and a life’s work that culminated in founding the Jeffreys Bay Surf Club with his younger brother, Steven. Steven passed away in 2021, but the Jeggels brothers’ work and shared passion lives on.
