Falling for Food

I’m one of those people who essentially live to eat. The question of what’s for lunch or dinner is almost always top of mind — and I look forward! For years, mealtime was agony for him, which was a mystery to his parents. Grey’s birthday is this month, which reminds me of the year he turned 5 and I took the day off to spend with him. As a treat, I told him he could choose place he wanted for lunch (even an ice cream parlor would do!). His response: “Lunch?! Why do we have to have on my birthday?!” Over the years, he has actually come around to enjoying mealtime (though I doubt that eating will ever be his favorite activity), and has even developed an interest in shopping for food, especially at farmers’ markets.
