EDITORIAL – Mysterious forts

he ‘big news in forts’ this year is obviously the 1900th anniversary of Hadrian’s Wall. We’ll certainly be doing a podcast on that is also dedicating an entire theme to Hadrian’s wall in issue 40. In though, I though it was more interesting to look at another set of fortifications slightly further south in Britain that are even more mysterious in their purpose: the Saxon Shore forts.
