Incredible Eyes and Deceptive Ears

With nine days still to go, we were now wide open to go in search for the more elusive sought-after animals only found in small areas of South Africa. The first of these on his list was a Vaal rhebok.

This incredible animal which I like to tell folk, "sees you when you get out of bed in the morning,” has enormous eyes with incredible long-distance vision, and camouflage to boot that suits its surroundings.

It is unique in that its hair is more like a rabbit's pelt, with a downy, soft curly fluff, and not the conventional straight hair of other antelope species. It is a uniform grey “vaal” (Afrikaans word for pale), and normally the first you see of it is the white under the tail after its sharp
