’ve had a couple of slightly unusual 200Tdi conversions this month, both in ex-military vehicles with 24-volt electrics. Military radio systems have long run on 24 volts, and since the 1960s Land Rover have been building vehicles to transport and power portable battlefield radio systems. The first Fitted for Radio (FFR) Land Rovers had 24v electric throughout (lights, wipers, ignition system etc) with a large, engine-driven generator powering the vehicle and radio systems. In the 1980s these were replaced with 90/110
