Damian Wilson helps the neo-prog mainstays revitalise their sound.

Four years have flown by since Arena’s last album, 2018’s thunderous , which marked their last recordings with vocalist Paul Manzi, who left the fold in 2020. For their latest studio offering, former Threshold, there’s a new spirit in the air, with a noticeable shift away from the heaviness of . It’s certainly easy to interpret this as a reaction to the change of frontman; Manzi was a mighty belter, where Wilson’s heartfelt, emotive style brings a very different timbre to the sound.
