ONLY nine per cent of plastic waste is currently recycled; National Geographic reckons there are five trillion pieces of plastic floating in our oceans, a figure only set to grow as our dependence on bottles, bags and containers continues.
It’s a global issue, but Britain’s coast is littered with crisp packets and cigarette ends, too. It’s estimated that by 2050, nearly all seabird species on the planet will be eating plastic.
