Bulbuls brighten up the breeding scene

I AM writing this bulletin at 3am! Unbelievably, I cannot sleep because rain is lashing on the windows for the first time in months. But the rain and accompanying thunderstorms are in fact very much appreciated.

The drought conditions have been tough on our wildlife and our gardens for months. Most planted aviaries and biotope aviaries have suffered as well. My own planted aviary has taken a real battering from the searing heat, and I have lost many well-established plants. Even a good watering with a hosepipe hasn’t saved them. After this breeding
