READERS ROAD TO FINKE PART 1

In April 2021, seven mates and I rode the Finke Desert track on a tour run by Outback Motorcycle Adventures consisting of Michael Vroom (2001 Finke winner) and Damian McGrath (Top 10 rider). It was one of the most awesome weekends of riding we'd all had. There'd been plenty of rain in the lead up and the desert looked incredible, much greener than we expected and only added to the special feeling of holding the throttle wide open along the ancient Finke riverbed for so long your arms and back ache.

Then after a long day in the saddle, we camped out, eating well and enjoying a few fireside beers. At Apatula we hung out with local kids cutting wheelies on their BMX bikes after earlier watching David Walsh suspension testing with GDR on his new KTM 500 EXC along the old Finke track in search of much bigger whoops.
