MARGUERITE DE WITT-SCHLUMBERGER
FRENCH, 1853 – 1924
An influential activist for women’s rights, De Witt-Schlumberger was the president of the International League of Women’s Rights and lobbied for the inclusion of women at the Paris Peace Conference. A counter-conference of women, called the Inter-Allied Women’s Conference, was also held and 17 delegates were heard at the Peace Conference’s labour legislation meeting, helping to shape the debate as the League was born.
