RED ALERT

I love catching redfin yet I wish they weren’t here. This is a contradictory feeling shared by many freshwater anglers in the southern states of Australia. Since their introduction in the 1860s, the success of redfin perch has been subject to controversy. Despised by some as a noxious pest, their tendency to dominate recreational fisheries and spread disease to native species is undoubtedly damaging. These facts present a firm case for redfin to be eradicated. On the other hand, they are visually stunning fish that attack lures with gusto and are fantastic on the plate. Regardless of your reasons for hunting them, reddies are prolific in the cool waters of southern Australia and are great fun to target on a variety of lures.
