Driven to despair

I wish to reply to Robin Scott’s article (Testing Times?, July issue) in which he suggested a competency test to shoot driven game. What next? In his article he uses words such as “somewhat expensive” and hiring an instructor for the day. What about the beaters that work all season for a bit of beer money? They look forward to keeper’s day, but would they be expected to pay for this test?
