The BLADE SHOW EFFECT

As I walked the aisles of the BLADE Show at the Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta this past June, I could not help but think about the previous 34 BLADE Shows I had attended. What had changed and what had not? All BLADE Shows feature trendsetters who at the time may not realize they’re setting trends. Many knifemakers follow the leader, as it’s easier to walk the path than create it. While so many changes occur, including those in designs, materials and more, the one constant is the collector.

The custom knife market is in a constant state of flux. The big picture always consists of folders and fixed blades. However, the idea of what those folders and fixed blades are is constantly being challenged.
