‘I always have a decorating project on the go'

When Alexis and her husband, Stephen, bought their Glasgow new-build, Alexis at first envisioned transforming it into a clean-lined, minimalist home, but couldn't resist adding colour. ‘We bought the house brand new from the developer, so it was a complete blank canvas,' Alexis shares. ‘I initially planned a very low-key, Scandi, minimal interior, but I found myself injecting more and more colour and drama as time went by.'

As it was a new property, no renovations were needed, so Alexis could focus on the finer details. ‘Every light switch and plug socket is carefully considered,' she says. ‘I chose black light switches and black room dividers at the thresholds for a graphic effect. I didn't want an entirely monochromatic scheme, though, so added touches of deep ochre, intense green and soothing blue.'
