Dream Boy delights with manners and presence

British Show Pony Society (BSPS) Summer Championships, Arena UK, Lincs

A DIMINUTIVE duo produced an enchanting performance to land the coveted Philip Judge overall supreme of show title. This was the culmination of five days of top-class competition which saw entries close to pre-Covid record numbers.

The lead-rein show pony Derw Dream Boy (Dave) and Milly Knipe – both aged five and mini supreme champions here last year – were picture perfect under the guidance of Milly’s father, working farrier James Knipe, to go one better and wow not only judge Vivienne Appell, but an appreciative audience too.

“This was a truly lovely champion,” said Vivienne. “It had very good conformation, was full of presence and quality, and had beautiful manners. All these things made it stand out for me.”

Certainly the super-smart little gelding never so much as flicked an ear throughout – even spontaneous audience applause did
