91 Laterus 2018 Syrah (Red Mountain). This is all clone 383 from esteemed Ciel du Cheval Vineyard. Aged 20 months in French oak (33% new), the aromas bring notes of ripe blue and red fruit, flower and herb. Ripe but svelte fruit flavors follow. It shows pleasing intensity. —S.S.
