A class act in Edinburgh

After a cancelled Edinburgh Fringe in 2020 and a much-reduced one last year, the end of the pandemic and related restrictions saw artists and audiences return with the number of shows around 80% of the level three years ago.

Energised by my colleague Dominic Frisby’s excellent documentary on Adam Smith at the Fringe last year (youtu. be/o6e6TpIrba0), I decided to return to the city, ending up seeing 20 shows.

While Frisby’s informative talk about weights and measures, with Andy Linden playing the titular betting tipster in a Damon-Runyan-meets-Dick-Francismasterclass. looks at Henry Naylor’s trip to Afghanistan immediately after the fall of the Taliban, while Naylor’s focuses on the Kurdish fighter Rehana.
