EISA Awards 2022/2023
Sound+Image and Australian Hi-Fi are EISA’s representatives for Home Theatre and Hi-Fi respectively here in Australia, part of the Expert Imaging & Sound Association which for 40 years has been pooling the editorial review experience of 60 special interest magazines and websites across 29 countries.
EISA usually holds an annual convention in March, and an awards ceremony in September (in Berlin during IFA) for celebratory sherbets and a posh gala presentation ceremony. With global travel still opening up, this year’s convention remained an extended series of online presentations nad discussions, followed by judging sessions between EISA’s various Expert Groups to nut out the final winners. Again no winners gala this year (next year, we hope!), but that’s just a shingdig to celebrate the completed task: we’re still able to bring you all the winners right here, with the full deets and citations for our own particular AV categories. Full lists of all EISA Award categories appear at the end.
This being a global group of winners, occasionally Australia gets a significantly different model, or the brand is not available here at all.
The rest, however, represent the world’s best.
TCL continues to evolve its Mini LED backlighting with multi-zone dimming technology, and the temptingly priced 65C835 puts those advancements on full display. This 4K TV builds on last year’s EISA Award-winning C825, with improved wide-angle viewing and anti-reflection abilities adding to an enhanced brilliance in picture performance. Dazzling brightness and colour rendition combine with excellent black and shadow detail during precision HDR playback across HDR10, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision IQ. There’s full gaming compatibility for next-generation consoles, and the user experience is enhanced by the inclusion of Google TV and an Onkyo sound system that provides impressive audio for such a slim and attractive set. TCL has created another fine winner in the 65C835.
Sound quality is high on any TV buyer’s wish-list, and Philips puts it front and centre with the 65OLED+937. Its integrated speaker system, designed by Bowers & Wilkins, is the ideal match for a stunning picture performance from the TV’s high-brightness ‘EX Royal’ OLED panel, and P5 AI Dual Picture engine with Advanced HDR tone mapping.
