Himachal Pradesh: A New Model of Social Welfare
The Jai Ram Thakur-led government in Himachal Pradesh has given its people a reason to rejoice. It has taken a raft of path-breaking decisions on public-centric welfare schemes to create a history of sorts among states in the country, thus living up to the Honourable Prime Minister's oft-quoted catchword "Sabh ka Saath, Sabh Ka Vikas, Sabh Ka Vishwas, Sabh Ka Prayas".
The State Government has taken a historic decision to not charge any bills from the electricity consumers till the consumption of 125 units besides exempting people of the rural areas from paying water bills. The government is also providing 50 percent concession to the women in the fare in State Transport buses operating within the state.
The State Government is committed to providing social justice to all with special focus on the deprived and marginal sections of society. Welfare and development-oriented schemes has been launched in the state during the four-and-a-half-year tenure of the present government, to ameliorate the socio-economic conditions of the poor and the downtrodden.
