PAINTING YOUR PRODUCE

The choices are endless for subjects to paint from animals, landscapes or produce from the garden. Have you ever pulled a beetroot from your vegetable bed thinking: ‘This is beautiful? I wish that I could paint that!’ I certainly have, and I do.

It is also a lovely way of preserving your crop, on paper, a memory of it even after it has been eaten. It doesn’t have to become a masterpiece, or even be hung on the wall. These little paintings would make great additions to a gardening journal to look back on, in the dark winter months, when there is little to do in the garden or on the allotment.
