he town of Dunkeld, located in Perth and Kinross, takes its name from the Gaelic , meaning ‘Fort of the Caledonii/Caledonians’. This indicates the town’s history as a political and military stronghold dating back to the Iron Age. In 1994 the Friends of Dunkeld Cathedral launched the Chapter Flouse Museum. Dunkeld Community Archive () was developed as part of the museum, and preserves documents from Dunkeld and the surrounding area.
