Keeping up the appearance of your motorhome will enhance its long-term value and give you continuing pleasure of ownership.
Cleaning after a winter lay-up is essential; when a motorhome is stored in the open, the accumulated grime will be at its maximum and you’ll probably have a good deal of algae and mould to deal with.
However, throughout the year you’re up against acidic rainfall, dust, grit particles and road grime acting on your bodywork. Then there are trees exuding resins and bird droppings further adding to the array of factors to degrade your bodywork.
Regular use of your motorhome also means the interior fabric is likely to suffer more. Allowing a build-up of dirt and grit on the seats and cushions will cause increased wear.
WHAT TO USE
Domestic cleaning products can vary between acidic and alkaline agents. Those agents at the extreme ends of the pH scale usually result in products that can clean really well, but such products with their corrosive potential will not do much for the sensitive materials used on a motorhome. Particularly vulnerable are the plastics and rubber seals used inside and out.
So, never use domestic cleaning products unless you’re sure they’re safe to use. Ideally, use products marketed specifically for caravans and motorhomes that have a relatively neutral pH and cleaning agents that are safe and effective on the
