Does Metals Market Manipulation Equal Conspiracy?
Gold and silver have taken quite a beating this summer. Typically, these two metals don’t do much during these “summer doldrums” but, at a time when the inflation rate is closing in on double digits, shouldn’t they be moving in the opposite direction? Aren’t they supposed to act as “wealth preservers?”
Conspiracy theories are everywhere. Did we really go to the moon? Did Oswald shoot Kennedy? Was the 2020 presidential election “stolen?” Choose an event, and there’s a corresponding conspiracy theory. It’s no secret that there are those who believe the manipulation of the precious metals markets is conspiracy-driven. If we wade into these waters, I think a fair and proper examination requires that we stand somewhere between those who see things that there, and those who fail (or refuse) to see things that there.
