Royal Enfield has launched a motorcycle that it says defines the recent journey it has taken as a “120-year-old start-up” while pointing the way forward.
The Hunter 350 is a ground-up design that has evolved through customer focus groups and in-house brainstorming sessions in the UK and India since its inception in 2016. In that time, Royal Enfield’s new single-cylinder J-series platform has seen well over 500,000 motorcycles sold using the same engine.
The long-term effort put into the design and development of the Hunter 350 has resulted in a motorcycle Royal Enfield believes will look as good in 10 years’ time as it does now. While that remains to be seen, we do know it has also produced its lightest model ever; the Hunter has 20kg less carriage than the firm’s Meteor and with a shorter wheelbase and 17-inch wheels front and rear. It’s further distinguished by the fact that it also runs a long-stroke single-cylinder engine. In Australia, perhaps its closest rival will be its own Meteor, unless reports
