Mike the mechanic

Car collections come in all shapes and sizes, with no two the same. But in the case of Mike Malamut’s haven, visitors are not only bowled over by the size of the building, they’re impressed by the eclectic range of vehicles, and the colourful décor that surrounds them. It’s been quite a journey for Mike. As a kid growing up in the 1950s and ’60s, cars became a centre of interest early on, coupled with a curiosity, and a natural affinity, for anything mechanical.

Eager to drive, his first car, aged 14, was a ’58 Ford, followed by a ’54 Porsche with a tired clutch
