A week in paradise

o fully understand the dynamics of the various Southern California VW events held in June, we need to turn back the clock to 1985. That was the year Rich Kimball launched a new, one-day meet called VW Classic. It catered to the whole air-cooled Volkswagen scene, early editions putting emphasis on vintage stockers in particular. Over the years, it morphed into quite an extravaganza, with around 1,500 cars typically on display at its peak, and visitors attending from all corners of the world.
