Waddling out of the classroom, I followed my friends to the canteen.
It was July 1999, and I’d soon be finishing my computer course at college, along with my classmates.
But, unlike them, I was 18 and eight months pregnant.
Soon another group of friends joined us.
Among them was Curtis McKenzie, then 24.
He always had a friendly smile for me.
‘Not long now,’ he said, nodding at my bump.
‘Can’t wait!’ I said.
In August, I gave birth to my daughter Laura. I loved being a mum.
Sadly, I split from her dad when she was 1.
