Accurascale’s Deltic delight

Straight from the box

BEAUTIFULLY packaged and presented, the brand-new 4mm scale Class 55 model, on first examination, appears to deserve the care taken with its extravagant foamed-lined box, together with the nicely produced owner’s manual, instructions and sheet of four-character train reporting codes. It looked spectacular at first glance, especially for the starting price of £160.

Pulling the inner packaging carefully from the box revealed something that has been reported by numerous modellers: a small number of detached parts including corner foot steps, bogie guards (life-savers) and hand brake chains. Before the model could be examined and tested further, the parts were reattached to the model and the remaining ones carefully checked and secured where necessary.

It is always a risk with such finely detailed models that some parts may come adrift in transit. This does not reflect from the overall impression that Accurascale has re-created the Deltic shape and character well. It
