The Home Stretch

We’re nearing the end of the restoration of the 1956 Mercury XM-Turnpike Cruiser concept car restoration. In fact, this may be the last installment of the restoration to be featured in Old Cars, because as you read this, the car may finally be completed!

After two attempts, I finally have the instrument panel cover sewed so it correctly fits around the gauges. This is one of the toughest things I’ve ever had to sew, but it’s done now, it’s installed on the instrument panel and it looks wonderful.
