ixty years after her death, Marilyn Monroe's star still shines. A gown worn sold for $218,750 at Julien's Auctions in July, more than double its presale estimate of $100,000. The figure-hugging, fleshtone gown embellished with silver and pearl beads, was designed by William Travilla, who designed costumes for Monroe in eight movies. Monroe's most famous dress, the one she wore while singing “Happy Birthday” to President Kennedy in 1962, sold for $4.8 million at Julien's in 2016.
