or many enthusiasts, the annual Bug Jam weekend starts at Rare and Unique VW Restorations in Sarasota, FL. The Rare and Unique Slam is now in its 19th year, and owner Kip Zimmerman puts on one hell of a party. For 20 dollars, not only do you get amazing BBQ and beer, but you meet up with hundreds of other likeminded VW folks from all over the country. It's called the “Rare and Unique Slam” but quite simply, it's a party, a good party. It kicks off around 3:00pm, but things really get rolling around 6:00. By that time, the lot is full and the side streets become filled with VWs of all shapes, sizes and colors.
