When I was 8, I was invited to a friend’s birthday party – we were treated to a screening of at a big-city cinema in Melbourne. I can still remember being transfixed by Olivia Newton-John as the gorgeous Sandy up on the huge screen, even if some of the more risqué lines in the film went way over my head. Plenty of lounge room concerts – where my friend and I would sing ‘You’re The One That I Want’, ‘Hopelessly Devoted To You’ and ‘Summer Nights’ into our hairbrushes – ensued, even though I always had to be the brunette John Travolta character, Danny Zuko, to my blonde friend’s Sandy – much to my annoyance!
