‘Low-hanging fruit’ must be addressed to boost development of SA’s agriculture sector

Ahead of the ANC’s policy conference held at the end of July, the party released policy discussion papers that noted the following: “[A]griculture] remains an important sector of the South African economy. It holds the potential to lift many poor South Africans out of poverty through increased food production, vibrant economic activity, and job creation.”

This view is consistent with empirical research outlined
