t was a housemate in my university years who introduced me to (hello Jonathan, if you’re out there). I wasn’t big on comics, but Daniel Clowes’s indie anthology title (which is getting a collected edition release from Fantagraphics on 27 September) was different: a mordant, morbid affair, strongly imprinted with later became its break-out strip, but it’s , serialised in issues 1-10, which captured my imagination.
