Last year was one of his best seasons on record. Matt Crehan, a passionate horticulturalist from Northcote, Victoria took 2021 in his stride, and although somewhat better than 2020, this speedy-like-Gonzales trail runner gave competitors a real run for their money when they saw him take to the start line that year.
The 37-year-old saw no less than 6 wins out of the 7 ultra races he competed in that year, as well as a blistering 4th Place finish from 1129 runners at Ultra-Trail Australia. So it’s no wonder that in February 2022, Matt was named the 2021 Male Ultra Runner of the Year by the Australian Ultra Runners Association (AURA) and given due credit for all of his achievements
