It’s a novel spot for a post-rock gig. And So I Watch You From Afar’s return to the capital is, apparently, a last-minute affair, so the Irish idols find themselves playing between titanic steel drums start the show. The four-piece are fighting an uphill battle from the first note. Not only does their half-hour slot have to warm up London for one of their genre’s most beloved forces; it has to do so with guitarist Asher Kenton sitting down due to an ankle injury. Fortunately, the music ensnares all the same, marrying post-rock with math and jazz cues. So invested are Signature Brew that this local bunch are able to instigate a venue-wide sing-along without any mics during their swan song. For a largely unknown opening act, it’s an awe-inspiring achievement.
