Al Hilal clinch exciting come-from-behind title

The 2021-22 Saudi Professional League season was one for the ages. It actually lasted for ages too, starting in mid-August 2021 and finishing over ten months later. There were breaks for World Cup qualification, the Asian Champions League, the death of United Arab Emirates president Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan in May, and Asia’s Under-23 Championship (which Saudi Arabia won in June without conceding a goal), before it finally ended on June 27.
