LUKE WATKINS grabbed the vacant English cruiserweight title in style, flooring and halting Marsham’s Iain Martell in the sixth of a scheduled 10-rounder at Grays Civic Centre.

Martell, the former undefeated Southern Area champion, looked ahead after five rounds but was dropped by a right to the head. He was up at six to take the remainder of the compulsory eight-count, but Watkins (Swindon) followed up and drew blood from Martell’s nose.
