It’s almost impossible today not to have some contact with the graphic design of Lindsay Missen. That’s down to money, mainly. Missen, who died at home in Paekākāriki earlier this year, was charged with overhauling the design of this country’s banknotes in 1991. That was when Her Majesty’s head got the chop on every note except the $20, and in her place, we were treated to portraits of famous New Zealanders.
Missen assembled a team of experts, who researched every detail of every design element he wanted to include in the new notes. He made the final selection of all the images, from the uncombed, everybloke rendition
