The RES - Newcastle’s Hidden Treasure

The RES is Newcastle’s #1 Reservoir. This underground treasure was constructed in 1882 and was Newcastle’s first subterranean drinking water supply. It was decommissioned in the early 1960s. Hunter Water has recently restored and opened the RES for public tours.

I was fortunate to gain access to the RES, allowing me to collect my reference photos for my sketch. I gifted my original sketch to Hunter
