DEVONSHIRE DREAM
WHEN WE MENTIONED to friends that we were off to Devon, their first thoughts were of Torquay, Brixham and the English Riviera. In fact, we were bound further east, along the beautiful Jurassic Coast, and were looking forward to exploring the quieter side of Devon, away from the tourist hotspots.
We were staying at the CAMC site at Putts Corner, about three miles south of Honiton, on the A375 towards Sidmouth.
We had opted for a fully serviced pitch in the centre of this woodland site, and once we’d set up and grabbed a sandwich, we spent the remainder of the afternoon enjoying the sunshine and relaxing outside our van.
Jurassic Coast
We awoke next morning to overcast skies, so decided to pop down to Sidmouth for a wander. Nestled below the hills and cliffs of the Jurassic Coast, this seaside town of attractive Georgian and Regency buildings and seafront hotels was established when beach holidays began to grow in popularity.
Today it retains a general air of genteel tranquility, as if the very thought of seaside funfairs and amusement arcades is somehow alien to the local way of life! In summer the beach is hugely popular with visitors, as are
