While I’m a bit younger than the average Gun Digest writer, I still lucked out having grown up in the pre-internet age. I’d never go so far as to say that I lived in a cave, but I certainly have an appreciation for the simple things in life, especially those things that don’t center on a phone, or a computer or … need their own app.
I remember the good old days of Blockbuster video and my parents’ stereo. I also recall the library of tapes and cassettes needed to listen to a song or watch a movie. Time has marched on, but the simplicity of the self-contained cassette has now come to a rifle near you, and upgrading your stock unit has never been easier.

So, what constitutes a cassette trigger exactly? The answer is a broad one if you count all designs, but it boils down to the trigger being contained in one packet as a single part, and its corresponding ability to be dropped in with little or no gun-smithing skill. As far as technology and advancement goes, this is really nothing new, but 2022 marks the broadest expansion of the market. Never has there been this many options out there for as many gun types. The number grows seemingly daily with no signs of stopping.
