‘I never imagined I would wear a bikini’

Carol Peck, 62, had always steered clear of bikinis. After losing weight and gaining confidence, she finally took the plunge. She lives in Cornwall with partner Robert, 72, and is mother to Mathew, 40, Emma, 38, Kerensa, 30, and stepson Christopher, 31.

Running my own business with a team of carers, my days were extremely busy and active. Being a part-time support worker involved a lot of lifting, which I began to find increasingly difficult due to my weight. In 2020, I was a size 14 and weighed 11st 11lb. I wore loose, elasticated clothes. The last time I had gone abroad, I had insisted Robert didn’t take pictures of me, and was covered up in a swimming costume and sarong.
