Emu bush

Most gardeners are familiar with iconic natives such as banksias and grevilleas, but a lesser-known and perhaps underrated group of native plants called emu bushes is also on its way to becoming a household name.

Some species have attracted other common names, such as poverty bush — probably due to the harsh environments they are often found in — or fuchsia bush, because the blossoms have a superficial resemblance to fuchsia flowers.
