In Germany, they call it Brokenwood – Mord in Neuseeland, or “Murder in New Zealand”. In France, it is simply Brokenwood, and about three million people watch every episode. In the US and Canada, viewers have been watching the new season for more than a month.

In its eighth season, the continuing story of the pictures-que New Zealand town with to watch. South Pacific Pictures has steadily scaled down its funding requests from NZ On Air since it was picked up by the French broadcaster France 3 and it has been self-funding since season six.
